Arai Defiant X Helmet

The Arai Defiant-X Helmet is steeped in style and protection. Building upon the original Defiant, the Defiant-X smooths out its predecessor's aggressive lines to produce a bold yet refined helmet. SFL shell construction is round and smooth to avoid catching on rough surfaces. The shape and materials create a strong shell to disperse energy upon impact. Facial Contour System cheek pads provide a snug yet comfortable fit. Arai's Free Flow System guides air underneath the helmet to improve overall ventilation for hot weather riding. The Arai DefiantX is the result of Arai's legendary quality and attention to detail. Its comfort, protection and style are a triple threat that is tough to beat.

Features:

  • SFL shell construction
  • Multi density EPS
  • Free Flow System (FFS) ventilation creates airflow under the helmet to reduce wind noise and turbulence while increasing hot air exhaust
  • Dual intake front vents, side exhausts and one-piece rear exhaust
  • Three position chin vent
  • Neck vent exhaust
  • VAS Max Vision face shield with included Pinlock insert lens
  • Removable, anti-microbial liner
  • Removable, washable cheek pads with 5mm peel-away layer for a perfect fit
  • Pockets for speakers
  • Facial Contour System (FCS) offers a snug fit by using a foam spring support in the cheek pad that compresses and rebounds without excessive pressure
  • Chin curtain
  • Double D-ring strap

    Another superb helmet by Arai

Posted by Paul Heagen on 30th Apr 2018

This is my first Arai helmet after an HJC and two Shoei helmets (Quest and RF1100). I was not disappointed. The fit and finish is top drawer. It just oozes great design, engineering and production. As an older cruiser, I appreciate the somewhat retro design (I'm retro!), but full, advanced technology and features. The helmet sizes are true; the ability to tune it with removable cheek pages is a nice feature.
My only gripe is the function ing of the visor (as much the instructions as the device). It is a clever, ingenuous design, but baffling at first to figure out -- and the really poor quality, hard-to-read instructions do little to help. For a $600 helmet, they could do better to explain how it works. Similarly, it was really unclear to me how to re-attach the cfeekpads to the neck liner (there is a tiny, almost indiscernible slot for a small plastic tab). Again, lousy instructions.
My chance to say that the folks at Performance Cycle were awesome. They patiently talked me through the visor/.cheekpad questions and in every way made this a great experience. They get five stars.
